Lighthouse Christian Academy is growing! We are seeking enthusiastic and mature Christian teachers for the 2026-27 school year. We teach the Alberta Program of Studies from a Christian worldview and provide additional Christian programming for students through devotions, Bible class and chapels.

We have three positions available.

FULL-TIME GRADE 2 TEACHER. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, instruction, supervision and evaluation of students in grade 2 across all subjects with varied academic abilities. There will be an educational assistant in the classroom that will work with the teacher.
FULL-TIME HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER. We have a small high school population at present. This teacher would need to have a willingness and ability to teach different courses as part of a high school team.
PART-TIME (0.5) GRADE 4/5 MATH & LA TEACHER. This is a new position as we prepare to transition our 4/5 class into separate grades. You would work with the current 4/5 teacher in teaching math and language arts to a group of 4/5 students in your own classroom.

‪Qualifications:

‪Bachelor of Education Degree
‪valid Alberta teaching certificate
current CPR/First Aid and CRC preferred
‪Experience working with students in an organized setting preferred
‪Experience working with ASD students is also an asset

Working well as a team member, having patience, flexibility and love for children, plus enjoying a mature relationship with Jesus are requirements for the successful candidate.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons start for K-9 students on January 27th, continuing on Tuesdays and Thursdays until February 12th. Please ensure your K-3 student comes to school with their swimsuit on underneath their clothes as we leave for lessons first thing. All students will need to bring a separate swim bag with a towel.

LCA Homeschool Open House

Are you interested in learning about home education and potentially pursuing it as an option for your family? We welcome you to join us at Lighthouse Christian Academy in Sylvan Lake from 6:30-8:30pm on March 25th. We will discuss our program, introduce staff, answer questions, talk about what home education is and look through and discuss a variety of resources.

School As Usual

Lighthouse Christian Academy is an independent school that is not represented by the Alberta Teachers Association. As such, our teachers will not be participating in the probable strike beginning on October 6th and we will have school as usual for the duration of the strike. Our thoughts are with the students, families, and teachers that are affected by the strike and pray that a fair and beneficial agreement for all is reached. Back to School

Welcome back!

There is a “sneak peek” happening on Thursday, August 28 from 9-2. This is an opportunity for you to bring your child in and drop off their supplies, get a sneak peek at the classroom, and have a quick hello with the homeroom teacher.
First official day back to school is September 2nd. First bell rings at 8:20 – a good time to be dropping off your child would be about 8:15.
All supply lists are available under the Documents tab

Walk-a-Thon

We are excited to announce that we will doing a Walk-A-Thon on Friday May 23 to raise funds for the new school build. Family members, friends & community members are all welcome to join! An information packet went home on Monday, May 5th with the youngest student of the family. We are looking for volunteers (preferably those with first-aid experience) to help at water stations and along the route. If you are interested in volunteering or would like some more information, please call the school office.

New Build Update from the Board

Hello LCA family,

It is short notice but there is some super exciting information the board would like to share. You are hereby invited to a Sneak Peek this Monday, March 3 at 6:45 in Emerge Church auditorium. It is not August yet but this sneak peek cannot wait! The board has some colored drawings and blueprints, not your traditional black and white, they would like to show on the big screen with all who are able to come out. There will also be donuts available! There will be opportunity for questions and discussion. There is also a financial worksheet that gives projections based on different scenarios. You are welcome to bring friends and family that are supportive of Christian education in Sylvan Lake. The doors will open at 6:30 to give plenty of time to choose the best donut and to enjoy some informal conversation prior. We expect to wrap up by 8 or 8:15 as it is a school night. See you Monday.

New Building Fundraiser Kick-Off with Stockwell Day

We are excited to announce that keynote speaker STOCKWELL DAY will be joining us at the community centre for a special BREAKFAST event on SATURDAY, DECEMEBER 7th at 8:30 am. This event is a fundraiser for our new school building, and we are hoping to pack the house with supporters and community members. The venue has been booked and confirmed, so mark your calendars and invite everyone you know to come and hear from this inspiring speaker. It’s sure to be a morning filled with great food, great company, and great inspiration. Let’s make this event a huge success for our school!
